FAQs

I can’t read. Can someone read to me?

Yes, absolutely.  Any book that is read to you - by a teacher, friend, parent, or even an audiobook - counts!

I like to read the same book over and over again. How do I count that?

If you read the same book five times, that counts as five books!

Do I have to read 1,000 books all by myself?

No - you can read as an individual, as a group of friends, or even as a class!

What books count?

No matter how you read it, each book takes you one step closer to your goal! Whether someone reads to you, you read together with someone, or you read on your own — it all counts! You can enjoy books in any language, read eBooks, or even listen to eAudiobooks as part of the challenge.

Can I count books that I have already read before I registered?

Unfortunately not, only start counting the books from the day you receive your booklet.

No, you can start when you are 5 or when you are 18.  It's never too late to start your reading journey.

Thank you to our sponsors

Our libraries extend heartfelt gratitude to the community sponsors supporting this programme! While Queenstown Lakes may be larger than a village, the spirit of community remains strong, and local youth should know that we're supporting their success. A huge thank you to our sponsors; without your support, programmes like this wouldn’t be possible.
