Have you seen the cake picnic trend sweeping the world? Imagine a longtable lunch, but with cakes instead! In celebration of Welcoming Week 2025, Arrowtown Library is hosting a DiversiTEA Cake Picnic!

Here’s how it works:

  • Your cake is your “ticket” to this free event, bake and decorate something sweet or savoury to share.
  • No cake, no problem. You’re still warmly welcome to join in the fun.
  • At 12pm we’ll unveil the cakes and everyone will get to taste, swap stories, and fill a container with slices to enjoy later (we’ll provide the containers).
  • Drop-in style!

We’re also excited to be joined by Good Bitches Baking, who will introduce their newly published book Familiar Foods: Treats of Aotearoa; a beautiful collection of 43 recipes from 30 cultures, each translated into its language of origin and paired with the contributor’s story.

To help us cater for everyone, please RSVP to Arrowtown.Library@qldc.govt.nz or 03 442 1607, and let us know what type of cake you’re planning to bring on the day.
