Creative Spaces: Hannah Paterson

2 - 30 November

Village of Small Things is a participatory collage installation at Wānaka Library by House of Small Things, led by Wānaka artist Hannah Paterson for the month of November.

A creative station will be set up in the Wānaka Library for the whole month of November inviting library visitors to create a house and contribute to the growing village.

Participants begin with an envelope, using its existing shape as a starting point. With found images, words and paper fragments, they transform it into a house that can be playful, personal or entirely imagined.

Each house becomes part of a growing village, bringing many distinct inner worlds together in one shared artwork.

Village of Small Things is part of Creative Spaces 2026, a month-long exhibition pairing local creativity with spaces across the district and inviting locals and visitors to discover creativity in unexpected places.

With the support of Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa.
