This wonderfully diverse exhibition celebrates the mahi and the haerenga of the students participating in the Certificate in Māori and Indigenous Art (Level 3) Toi Maruata at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa.
The course, held at the SIT Queenstown Campus, was an 18 week programme delivered Noho and Wānanga style, tutored by distinguished weaver Rokahurihia Ngarimu Cameron with support from her tane, Kerry Cameron.
The exhibition represents hours of knowledge sharing and skill building. Each weaver has artistically woven their own story into their taonga. Common themes of family, heritage, generational ties and beliefs are explained showcasing each weavers’ personal journeys and unique labour of love and learning.
OPENING DATE: Tuesday, 3 December to Saturday, 14 December (closes at noon). Available during Frankton Library opening hours only.
